About this artwork: Rosa Parks at the Smithsonian-In 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. "Our mistreatment was just not right and I was tired of it," she later said. The rest is history, her arrest, a 381-day bus boycott and a 1956 ruling by the Supreme Court that segregation on transportation was unconstitutional. In 1991 a bust of Rosa Parks was unveiled at the Smithsonian where she shook hands with well-wishers.
