Kansas City Booms with First Friday Frenzy
Kansas City’s core is literally hopping with art-goers, art appreciators, and the artists themselves – the first Friday of every month. What is fueling this frenzy of activity? Many things – but one is simply Kansas City’s love of art for art’s sake.
Graphic Grocery Loves Fine Art and the Fine Artist
We simply love art, and believe that beautiful images on the wall can truly create frame of mind, mood, ambiance, stillness or energy. The founder of Graphic Grocery, Luke LeTourneau, has created a way for many more people to obtain fine art prints and enjoy provocative, restful, or bold images everywhere – fine art images at the office, at home, at their church, at their doctor’s office. Everywhere there’s a wall, there’s chance to enhance the environment! Well, okay, that may be a bit of an overstatement, but you can catch our enthusiasm and drive to provide fine art everywhere, not just within art galleries.
Bringing fine art to the masses – because we can. So how do we do it? On-demand, custom fine art printing is the best of both worlds for both artist and for the buying public. Our custom fine art printing process allows artists to be freed from the necessity to hold large stocks; galleries have more choice and the fine art collecting public has been stimulated by wider choice and better quality.
Wall art images are saved as a digital file and can be produced singly, or more, whenever required, by the custom photographic printing service. The prints will be exactly the same at the start and end of a print run. Or, the artist may choose to make changes to the image, so that each output is slightly different. Control of images in this way is a valuable option for many photographers and artists.
The quality and control of today’s high-end printers, inks, and substrates have improved dramatically over the last dozen years, so that now truly fine art can be produced like it used to be produced – one a time. We reproduce it only when you order it. We’ll ship it anywhere, framed or unframed, but our core business is in Kansas City.
A little bit of art trivia for the historically-minded: "Art for art's sake" is the usual English rendition of a French slogan, from the early 19th century, ''l'art pour l'art.'' It expresses a philosophy that the intrinsic value of fine art is the art itself – apart from any function or utilitarian purpose. Interestingly, it became a slogan in the nineteenth century, a kind of bohemian creed raised in defiance of those who pushed fine art – or art of any kind -- to serve a moral purpose. They believed that fine art needed justification for being. "Art for art's sake" affirmed that art was valuable as fine art, that artistic pursuits were their own justification and that art did not need moral justification — and indeed, was allowed to be morally subversive. Whew! And we just thought it was a cute phrase.
Visit our artist galleries, and see what we mean about loving fine art and the artists who create it. We support both, and encourage anyone with a desire to raise the visual and emotional appeal of their surroundings to consider Graphic Grocery as your fine art source in Kansas City.
